Greetings Terrans, happy Orctober. Just a short post today, with some equally short greenskinz to share – a small rabble of gobbos from the Silver Tower set:

The observant among you might notice that there are are a few too many limbs and eyes for the given number of heads… that’s because these are ‘Scuttlings’ – mutated gobbos from the Silver Tower fluff:
“Grot Scuttlings are a type of grots that live in the Silver Towers, infesting the Gaunt Summoner’s domain neither by his will or permission. These green-skinned invaders, sprouting like fungus and ensnaring the unwary that they might devour. Grot Scuttlings resemble half-arachnid half-grot creatures and are tribal and wily. They have four grot legs and two hands in which they clutch stabbas, spears and Huntin’ Bows. When some Grots start eating a strange fungus that grew on big spiders, which, over some time, caused them to mutate and so Scuttlings were created.”
So there we go – weird and mutated night-goblins is pretty much the vibe here… Not much else to say! The set of eight is comprised of four melee grots, and four ranged grots:

The minis are pretty goofy, and not terribly inspiring to paint, so I didn’t put much effort in to the job – just a whole load of drybrushing & a bit of highlighting for the flesh. Of the two types, I suppose the melee ones are a bit less naff thanks to the awkward sticky-out ‘bow-arm’ situation, but there isn’t much in it! Still, they are done and dusted, and I’m counting them as my humble contribution to Orctober.
Have a good one all, catch you later.
Spider-gob does whatever a Spider-gob does?
For drybrushing and otherwise simple painting they at least look very nice and I like the green you’ve done on their skin.
Different I guess, but ultimately pretty silly designs. Still, they are done, so cudos. What’s next?
Yeah, silly is the right word – I prefer my pretend toy soldiers to be a bit more serious 😁
Still working through a my pile of built & undercoated minis, so more Silver Tower in the short term 👍
Nice! When I first saw these models I loved ’em. When I sat down to actually paint my own set… I hated ’em. Now, however, seeing yours has me enthused again. Nice straightforward painting but it suits them. Of course, if I want to act on this newfound enthusiasm I’ll have to work out where the hell I’ve stored them…
… and you’ll hate them again while painting them, & then finally reach acceptance once you’ve blogged them 😂
Great work! Thanks for posting the lore, I wondered what their origin was – spider fungus seems like a good explanation, haha :D
Interesting sculpts for sure, there’s a grot in the Gobbapalooza set as well that has a similar design and would work great as a leader for them.
Cheers mate & no worries! Funny you should mention Gobbapalooza – I have that set waiting to be built… 😬
Cool man, weird and mutated is my cup of tea. They look great
You know, with all your spiders, this is basically how you Aussies are going to evolve right? 😳
Haha probably. Actually I had a tickle on the back of my neck on a job this morning and my rule is, slap it, kill it, flick it. So I did that and sure enough is was some sort of black spider crawling around my neck haha.
That could’ve been your origin story! 😳
Haha I think that one is taken. I want my origin story to be I was bitten by a Big Foot
Those are pretty neat. I like the concept behind them.
Cheers,
Pete.
Cheers mate, a bit of silliness never hurt anyone I suppose 😊
Nicely done you might not have been that “Into them” but very well painted (all the same).
Cheers Roger.
Cheers dude 🤘
Those are more than a bit on the creepy side! They do look really good though! :-)
Cheers mate – weird & somewhat wonderful 😊
Good job on getting these done! I’ve not done anything with mine – still on the sprue, sadly…
Cheers mate – there were points where I probably would’ve said the sprue is the best place for ‘em! 😂
Nice work. I think that these are somehow quite cute and I’m a bit surprised that they haven’t made into mainstream Warhammer yet (or maybe they have and I just missed it) as they rather fit that goofy goblin aesthetic.
Cheers mate, I think the Gobbapalooza set continues the ‘mutated by fungus’ vibe, but that’s about it I think
Haha, I can’t say I’m a fan of the sculpts, but it’s undeniable that you made quite a solid work and made them look great in all their creepiness. Cool job!
Cheers dude, done is good enough 😁
Not seen these models before, but I really like the sculpts and your painting has made them look even more sneaky as well Alex
Cheers mate 😊
