Greetings Terrans, quick post to formally kick off a lil’ Eldar project that has been, oh, 35 years in the making… ever since Jes Goodwin’s Aspect Warriors first appeared in WD125. The fully painted Aspect Warriors blew my mind when they landed in WD127 back in 1990, as did all the art work and fluff. I managed to get my hands on some, along with some other period Eldar minis, and 15-year-old me set to with limited skill but boundless enthusiasm. As a result, I had a load of badly and/or partially painted Eldar that have been unloved in a box for 35 years… It was that box that got me back into the hobby as an adult, but somehow I never got around to those poor unloved Space Elves… well, no more. I’ve stripped, built, based & primed all the troops, including quite a few conversions along the way. So far I only have one painted mini, but it’s a cool one – the as-yet unnamed Autarch:

She (I think?) is based on an old Eldar Guardian that I’ve also heard referred to as a proto-Dire Avenger. She’s a great mini, very well posed and balanced, all I’ve done is add some Swooping Hawk Exarch wings, and a fancy loin cloth… from a modern Slaaneshi kit of all things. With the wings, shuriken catapult and powersword, she certainly looks like she has trodden a few warrior paths!

I’ll be using purple and yellow for the primary colour scheme for a craftworld of my own design, (though like its Autarch, the craftworld is unnamed at this point). I’ve also used red as a spot colour, which might carry across the army, while the teal/blue is more of a direct nod to her time as a Swooping Hawk.

Anyway, I hope you folks like the direction this is heading – more to follow in the weeks to come, but first, I need to get Scynir’s warband completed!
