Greetings Terrans, I hope this finds you well! It has been several weeks since my last post – RL is kicking my ass as usual – blah, blah, blah. Still, I’ve been chipping away on more Tzeentch mooks – five of the six Tzaangors from the Silver Tower set, and a sixth Tzaangor from the ‘Eyes of the Nine’ Underworld warband, (he’s the one with the whopping great chopper). But before I show them off, I just wanted to comment on the 9th year of Leadballoony – I cannot believe that it has been so long. My hobby focus has shifted around a lot since then – this blog actually started out as a record of my Praetorian Guard army for W40K (7th Edition!). Over the intervening years I have gotten into and then out of a few different games and genres, and shared my modeling & painting efforts along the way. I have also kept up with project logs, battle reports, and I’ve even had a wee dabble with creative writing. I’ve resisted ‘The ‘gram’, and have stayed true to the blogging thang. I have made a few good blogging-buddies along the way, and have found the vast majority of folks in this space to be decent people, (with just one notable exception, swiftly blocked).
Strangely, given all the twists and turns over the years, the blog holds true to its original purpose – a place for me to record my painting output & really just share the things that are getting my hobby juices flowing at any given time. These days, I’m still enjoying painting up modern GW plastic of a AoS/Chaotic nature, and I don’t see that changing any time soon, but there are soooo many projects I still want to get done… modern Warbands for Khorne & Slaanesh, modern undead, vamps & Kruelboyz, loads of lovely gangs and characters, a platoon of Vostroyan 1st Born, a platoon of Bob Olley sculpts, that 1st/2nd ed. Eldar army I always wanted but didn’t have the confidence to paint, Confrontation gangs… oh, and I’m liking the look of Cities of Sigmar as well… So many things! One thing for sure, I am going to be sticking to painting what I have rather than buying anything new – so far I have spent precisely zero pennies with GW this year, and I intend to keep being very selective in this regard, (though I did get gifted a lil’ ‘sumpthin’ for Father’s Day)
Anyway, I guess all of these projects mean that I’ll be keeping this wee spot of t’internet going for the foreseeable future. Thank you to everyone who swings by for a butcher’s, and thank you even more to those who comment, like, etc. It means a lot to me, and I hope you continue to get something out of stopping by.

Right, enough of all that, let’s get down to business. Tzaangors!! As with the Kairic Acolytes, I did some small conversions to de-duplicate where necessary:

They were fiddly buggers to paint if I’m being honest, but I’m really happy with the final result! The internet consensus is that these murderous chicken-goats are blue of hue, and hue am I to argue?! To be fair, this shade is a lovely colour to play with, and it really works nicely with the darker blue of the armour and the orange cloth. Here they are with the Scynir, the Warband leader:

Aaand that’s all for now folks! Next up will probably be some Tzeentchy Daemons :-)
First of all congratulations! That’s quite a milestone and I’m so happy to see fellow bloggers still keeping it up! Here’s to your blog and your next achievements!
About the minis, I have to say they are eye-candy, I totally love them, the blue and orange is a winner and your paintjob is top notch. Great work!
Kudos to you and keep up the good work!
Cheers!
Thank you Suber, and likewise!! I always enjoy your work, even when I can’t comment!
Great work as always Alex and congrats on the 9 years mate. 👍
Cheers Dave 😊
Congratulations on the milestone, and holding true to what your blog was intended for.
Excellent job on the models they really fit well with the colour choices you’ve gone for.
Thanks Dave, I am quite pleased with them 😊👍
Now those are really, really nice minis! :-) Somehow I need to get some blue-skinnned individuals into my historical armies! Well done on the blog anniversary and I’m looking forward to see what’s up and coming here!
Cheers mate – maybe some angry painted picts?? 😁
Congrats on nine years! I think my blog turns 12 this October and I’ve stuck with it for the same reasons you have listed. Just seems more thorough to catalogue my hobby progress here than on Instagram or twitter or some other social media option.
The current Tzangor sculpts are fantastic and how I feel GW should have modelled their Tzeentchian beastmen even from back in the 80’s. Now, saying that, I’m no fan at all of Tzeentch, having always been a devout follower of Grandfather Nurgle, so as much as I really do love your paintjobs on these minis, I hope they all die in games rather quickly. :)
😂 Cheers mate – I have them on a separate shelf from my Nurgle warband to keep things civil 😁
Well done on the 9 year mark, and very glad to hear you are still brimming full of ideas for more projects.
And great work on these models the colours play off each great!
Cheers mate, more ideas than time to execute them!
Congrats on the 9th year, Alex! It’s funny (or not so funny) how quickly the time goes by, eh?
The bluebird-goat-men look pretty sweet once again – your weapon swaps really do make them into new models – if you think about it for a moment, it’s much the same thing that GW used to do for those old RT/WHFB3 models we adore so much, so carrying on a fine tradition there! :)
Cheers dude, yeah, it is terrifying to think how quickly that went by… I’m actually at the point of prioritising projects based on the rate at which my eyesight is getting worse!
