Greetings Terrans, how’s it going? Another quickie from me today, and another BS character done and dusted – this time it’s the Eldar Ranger type ‘Amallyn Shadowguide’:

This one was a real sod to paint… I really like the look of Eldar, but every time I paint one I am reminded just how bloody fiddly they are. In this case, it’s more than just the bajillion gemstones – the rifle is ridiculously fragile & got snapped off mid-barrel as I was painting – I really should’ve used a painting handle for this one! The barrel was too thin to glue so I resorted to a small wrap of GS to add some strength… hopefully my crude Monkeigh sculpting didn’t ruin this fine mini!
Frustrations aside, I’m really pleased with how she came out – in particular, the face… I absolutely nailed the eyes, even if I do say so myself :-)
I roughly copied the green/bone scheme from a much earlier Eldar Exodite project, so she fits in with her peeps:

She also works ok with another earlier Eldar that I painted – a converted Harlequin Solitaire:

Anyhow, that’s it for now, I have a few more BS dudes to paint before I’m done with the set – onwards and upwards!
Out of the BSF hero sculpts I think this one is my least favourite and I’m not really looking forward to having to paint her up. Aside from my own personal bias against Space Elves, like you say, she’s just so flippin overly complicated!
So bravo for getting her done and to your typical amazing standard. I think the colours you’ve gone with really compliment the theme of the character and yes, you “should” be happy with those eyes, they are spot on.
Cheers mate, she’s a tidy mini to be fair, just a faff to paint 🫤
those look great. for a tricky sculpt you’ve done a blinder there.
Cheers mate, turned out ok I think 😊
Excellent job Alex, Eldar have always been fragile and covered in fiddly little details but you’ve done a stunning job on it, and if you hadn’t said about the greenstuff on the weapon, I wouldn’t have known.
Cheers Dave, yup, fiddly is the right word for it – all those gems & sticky out bits!! 😂
I don’t think it’s an easy mini to paint, but you did quite an outstanding job here, I love how she looks and how coherent she looks alongside her pointy eared mates!
Cheers dude, I’m pleased that they work well together… no real reason, just feels important somehow 😊
Super job on Amallyn there. Pretty sure she’s the only Eldar I’ve ever painted but you’re spot on about how fiddly they are (every time I go to paint another I look at all those details and think “you know what, maybe another day…”). You make that bone and green Beil-Tan scheme look great as well, something I never thought I’d say!
Cheers dude, yeah, I’m right off my painting at the moment, and the faff is a big part of that 🫤
Still, done is done & she is pretty cool 😊
Excellent work on this lady – I know what you mean about fragility – mine was broken on the sprue when I opened the box! :/
She’s come up a treat, and the other Eldar alongside look pretty sweet as well!
Yeah, waaay to fiddly and flimsy imo – shame, because otherwise it’s a nice mini 🤷♂️
