Greetings Terrans, how goes it? It has been nearly a month since my last post, which is rubbish, but the good news is that this post is a two-fer, and is the conclusion of me painting the Blackstone Fortress set! It may have taken me 5 years, but I’m still calling it a win.
First up is the burny-choppy zealot, ‘Pious Vorne’:

The bonkers 40K Grimdark has been turned up to 11 for Vorne, but she’s a nice mini to paint for all that, with just the right amount of detail. I really didn’t try too hard with the painting, just a basic base & drybrush, followed by a good amount of gunge.
Next up is UR-025:

I didn’t have as much fun painting this guy as I hoped – the whole ‘man of iron’ fluff has so much potential, but this mini is just a bit bland. Also, it is shite to photograph. Anyway, I painted him up with a bunch of different colours, like he had been patching himself up with parts salvaged from fallen comrades… I don’t know if that comes across or not, but I ran out of fucks to give on him, so this is how he stays.
And that’s it folks – BS Fortress done! Here’s a final cheeky shot of all the characters to draw a line under the whole thing:

So that’s all for this post – I’ll be dipping back into the Silver Tower next for some Orctober fun next, so catch you all soon!
Both look great Alex, and the multi colour of replacing parts certainly comes across, must be nice to finally have it all finished, and able to move onto other projects, not worrying about having to come back to this one.
Cheers mate, yeah, good to have it done & dusted 👍
Of course you can call this a win! Fantastic job indeed!!
Oh, that was me, BTW!
XD
😊
Cheers dude, got to take ‘em where you can these days!
Very nice! :-) I recognised what you’d done with UR-025 straight away and it looks really good. Year ago I painted a Warmachine mercenary warjack in a similar manner to represent the same situation and it was a lot harder than I thought it would be, so good on you for getting this mini done!
Cheers mate, kind of you to say 😊👍
Nicely done Alex. Doesn’t matter how long it takes a win is a win so well done mate
Cheers dude – true enough 😊
What a great way to end a project and the team pic looks smashing. Verne’s flame effects are super good too.
Did you get the expansions for BSF?
And this is Dai btw… Once again, forgetting to log in before hitting “post”. *eyeroll*
😊👍
Cheers dude, good to get it done 😊
I missed all the expansions apart from the cultists one – don’t know if that makes me sad or happy! 😂
Stupendous work on all the mini’s in this project mate! I love “RU” I really got the repairing himself with scrounged parts vibe.
Cheers Roger.
Cheers mate, glad that’s coming across 😊
Fantastic, a post five years in the making. That’s so cool to complete this project, even if you did end on something of downer (for you, I like the robot). I reckon that the robot looks good and it does indeed give off the vibe you describe of repairing itself from parts of its fallen friends… though also seems suitably ‘grimdark’ so it’ll fit right in with all the flame-happy preachers et al. Great work throughout, as always.
Cheers dude, it’s always satisfying to complete a set, even if some of the minis are a bit meh 😊
