Silver Tower – more bits and bobs

Greetings Terrans, I hope you’re all well! I haven’t had too much hobby time these last few weeks, but luckily I have a good selection of easy minis that are primed & ready to just grab and paint. Among that pile were these wee scamps from the Silver Tower set:

I did a bit of conversion work on the duplicates, just to get a bit of variation – not sure how successful they are tbh, but it’s pretty small potatoes in the grand scheme of things.

I also did these guys:

I couldn’t really see a way to sensibly convert these four, but the painting was fun. The walking books ware a good chance for a spot of freehand, and the fishy things use the same metallic approach as I used on the Horrors a few months ago. I quite like how they came out :-)

While I was in the mood for painting up little things, I also did this Frostgrave (I think) objective marker that I’ve had lying around for ever:

And here’s a final shot of the whole lot together:

And that’s all for now! Hopefully there will be a bit of painting time before Christmas :-)

Silver Tower Revisited

Greetings Terrans, hope you’re well. I’ve been carrying on with the odds and sods from my ‘primed pile’ this last week, and have another Silver Tower mini to share – the rather beefy ‘Ogroid Thaumaturge’:

He’s a stonking model, but I honestly found it to be strangely frustrating to paint! All those swirly tattoos are cut into the skin & I really wanted to get them to look all glowing & magical, but I just couldn’t get it to look good… no idea why, just wasn’t happening :-(

Anyway, I used up all the fucks I had, and ended up going for for a contrasting red for the tattoos – it looks ok I guess, but it bothers me that it’s not what I had in mind. Still, I had fun with highlighting all that flesh, and I’m particularly pleased with the OSL from the magic flamey-staff thing.

This is actually the second Ogroid I’ve painted – I tackled the more martial Ogroid Myrmidon a few years ago & I thought I’d put them together for a photo – they make quite a decent pair!

.

Anyway, that’s all I’ve got for you this week, but don’t worry, I have more Silver Tower guff to follow in due course. Until then, have a good one & catch you all soon!

Orctober(ish)

Greetings Terrans, happy Orctober. Just a short post today, with some equally short greenskinz to share – a small rabble of gobbos from the Silver Tower set:

The observant among you might notice that there are are a few too many limbs and eyes for the given number of heads… that’s because these are ‘Scuttlings’ – mutated gobbos from the Silver Tower fluff:

“Grot Scuttlings are a type of grots that live in the Silver Towers, infesting the Gaunt Summoner’s domain neither by his will or permission. These green-skinned invaders, sprouting like fungus and ensnaring the unwary that they might devour. Grot Scuttlings resemble half-arachnid half-grot creatures and are tribal and wily. They have four grot legs and two hands in which they clutch stabbas, spears and Huntin’ Bows. When some Grots start eating a strange fungus that grew on big spiders, which, over some time, caused them to mutate and so Scuttlings were created.”

So there we go – weird and mutated night-goblins is pretty much the vibe here… Not much else to say! The set of eight is comprised of four melee grots, and four ranged grots:

The minis are pretty goofy, and not terribly inspiring to paint, so I didn’t put much effort in to the job – just a whole load of drybrushing & a bit of highlighting for the flesh. Of the two types, I suppose the melee ones are a bit less naff thanks to the awkward sticky-out ‘bow-arm’ situation, but there isn’t much in it! Still, they are done and dusted, and I’m counting them as my humble contribution to Orctober.

Have a good one all, catch you later.
