Realm of Warcry; Chapter 3 – part 4

Greetings Terrans! Well, last post I said I’d be away for a few weeks… that turned into 4 months, and a full break from the hobby during that time! It was a combination of work and study, so nothing dramatic or exciting, but unusually, it also included a rest from all the many fine blogs I follow and usually comment on… 4 months is a lot to catch up on, so I doubt I’ll be going back over everything and commenting extensively, but I’ll have a quick peek & carry on as normal from here on.

It’s not just the blogging that has suffered, coming back from such a long break has been a slow and painful process on the painting front as well… I swear my eyesight has gotten worse in the last 4 months! Still, I’ve managed to slap some paint around as best I could & I picked up where I left off by adding a couple more mooks to my Slaaneshi warband:

These guys were a simple kitbash from a couple of old Flagellants, with bits added to tie them in with the Unmade from my last post. Colour scheme was copied from the rest of the warband, so nothing unusual or exciting to report there.

These two complete the human contingent of the warband, but I also rolled 4 Harpies back when I generated this project. I had 4 Furies ready to paint, but I saw an opportunity to re-task the Harpies I originally did for my Tzeentch warband… honestly I never really felt happy with them in terms of how they were painted, or how they fit in with the rest of the Tzeenchian mob as it evolved over time… This is how they looked 2 years ago:

Hmmm…

I gave them a quick repaint & moved them over to Slaanesh, and I’m much happier with them now:

Much better.

Of course, I still need to replace them in the Tzeentch warband, and that will be the subject of my next post – and I promise it won’t take another 4 months!! :-)

Realm of Warcry; Chapter 3 – part 3

Greetings Terrans, another bit of progress to report for my Slaaneshi warband – after a fair bit of cursing, I managed to get the rest of the Unmade completed. As with their leader, some of these are spindly, fiddly sods, with loads of scope for breakages! Here they are in pairs:

I am really glad to get these guys done and dusted – I really didn’t enjoy painting them very much at all to be honest, but they do look pretty cool as a group. Here they are with their Unmade boss:

And a final pic with the Warband Champ:

The Unmade definitely represent rougher & less polished side of Slaanesh compared to the Champ, but the colour scheme is tight enough that they still work as a cohesive group I think.

Anyhow, that’s all for now – I’ll be away from the hobby for a few weeks with various things, but there will be more additions to this warband in due course :-)

Realm of Warcry; Chapter 3 – part 2

Greetings Terrans, I have a very brief post to share today – a tiny bit of progress on my Slaaneshi warband. I need about 11 more humans to add to the roster, and looking over my hoard, I thought this might be the perfect opportunity to tackle the Unmade warband from the initial Warcry run. These pervs are all about the pleasure/pain, and they seemed like a good fit. They look pretty damn cool too, so I got stuck in, all enthusiastic like… Well… turns out they are absolute sods to build, handle, paint, and (I suspect) store & transport. They are fiddly, flimsy, and generally a f***ing pain… but to be fair, they do look cool :-)

So far I’ve only managed to finish the leader, with the rest of the warband in various states of WIP. Here he/she/they is – see what you think:

The very observant might notice that the hook hands have been repositioned… This was absolutely planned, and nothing whatsoever to do with me bending them during painting, then trying and failing to straighten them, and then snapping them off in frustration… no sir, that definitely didn’t happen… :-|

Here he/she/they are with the new gaffer:

One down, eight to go – hopefully I’ll manage to crank some out over the weekend!

Have a good one :-)
