Greetings Terrans, I can’t believe it, but February has rolled around again – must be time for another Fembruary challenge!! Long-time followers of this blog will know the drill by now, but for any Johny-come-lately’s, the deal is ‘Paint at least one Female miniature’ – it’s that simple! I’m not bothered what genre, game, manufacturer, painting style or material you go with. It can be a squad, a single mini, a diorama, or whatever takes your fancy… I’m just looking for awesome portrayals of the feminine in miniature form, as part of an ongoing conversation about how women are presented within our hobby.
Once you’re done, you just need to blog about it & link back to this post. I would also be grateful if you could use your own blogs to push the challenge even further – the more, the merrier after all! I’ll do a round-up in early March, (usually in time for International Women’s Day), where I will also choose my favourite from the submissions. There are no prizes, just kudos & high fives from your peers. To give you an idea of what I mean, here’s a link to the submissions from 2018 and 2019.
For my part, I’ll be revisiting my Daughters of Khaine & adding to the warband of Seros the Red:
See you on the other side ;-)
This is a wonderful idea.
I’m not usually one to push a “feminist agenda” in my model hobby, but I am sure I can find something female to paint up for this challenge – after all who doesn’t like a fun community challenge!
Cool, good to have you on board Jenn – looking forward to seeing what you find!
It’s a lot of fun a and really the only challenge I take part in.
Excellent Alex. Was hoping this was coming up again not least of all because I bought a number of female figures to do just in case! Hopefully I will have the first one to post next week.
Awesome, good to hear it mate :-)
I look forward to this challenge every year. Not that I participate, but I love seeing the results. :)
The results are the best bit for me too – it’s great seeing what folks come up with!
Glad to see you’re doing this again, I’ll try to get something painted for it and maybe even post something to spread the word. Very much agree with CupCakesAndMachetes and yourself, the best bit is seeing what everyone comes up with :-)
Awesome – fingers crossed you can fit something in mate… as an ex-chsmpion, you have a reputation to uphold!
Count me in, too! In anticipation of a 3rd year of FEMbruary, I’ve already selected a couple of figures. Looking forward to seeing the Daughters of Khaine and all the other varied and imaginative contributions your excellent scheme inspires once again this year.
Cheers dude, good to have you aboard :-)
I was hoping this would come around again and guess what I bought the minis I wanted for this challenge back in October haha. I love it.
Well played mate – looking forward to seeing what crazy shit you come up with!! :-)
I’ll put a post up on Instagram to promote it as well man

Sounds interesting, I might join in and give it a go! 😀
Can I paint a Gryphound for the challenge, or is it only humanoid female models?
Cool man! I reckon it needs to be something demonstrably female though, so hounds, mounts, monsters etc. are out I’m afraid… nice try though :-)

Don’t know if anything “demonstrably female” will find its way onto my rather sparse painting table this month, being ensconced as I am in painting some male dwarves, and finishing up poxwalker #17. I have a “shaman” that I bought off of Etsy, but with all of the furs and such I can’t honestly tell if this person is an old man or an old woman, lol. Maybe something will present itself before the end of the month, who knows?
In any case I’m with you in spirit! :)
Can you be sure that those Dwarves are male? ;-)
That is very true, but I think that’ll be a slippery slope I won’t test. I mean if you allow my bearded lady dwarves into your challenge who knows what will be next?! The mind reels at the possibilities. :)

Outstanding work by so many people in the community. I missed this one, but I’ll be trying to get more female figures into the neglected model mix over the next months, and then try to get something special for next Fembruary!
