Greetings Terrans, just a quickie from me today – I managed to get a quick game of Blood Bowl in last week, and so I bashed out a few counters to use instead of the standard ones. They weren’t quite finished for the game, but I’ve tidied them up this weekend & thought I would share.
For those not in the know, Blood Bowl games primarily track three things – Turn, Re-rolls and Score. Many coaches create their own snazzy counters to match their team, so I came up with these:
Simple things, but they are fun & are a sign of ‘doing it right’ in BB circles 😊
As for the game itself – turns out Wood Elves are bloody good… even when coached by a noob like me! I wanted to try as many positional players as I could, so I took 2 War Dancers and a Treeman, but I only had 1 re-roll for the team… A risky strategy, but the Corpse-Wood Wails comfortably ran out 2 – 0 winners against well coached a Human team. Come on the Wails!!!
‘Mon you Wails! Tell me, are their cheerleaders known as the Maiden Wails? Obviously I hope they continue to go from strength to strength but if they have a bad season my “Save The Wails” banners are ready to go.
Just to clarify for a Blood Bowl noob, I take it the counters are as you’ve listed them – from left to right Turn, Re-rolls and Score? Is the dice removable so that it can be turned around and the number of re-rolls shown on the upper face? How do the other two work to keep track of things. Trying to figure this kind of thing out myself at the moment, hence all the questions.
Cheers dude, appreciate the support! I’m not doing things like cheerleaders though… that way madness lies ;-)
You’re right – they are from left to right, Turn, Re-roll & Score. There’s nothing fancy or clever on the counters themselves – they just get moved along a card tracker that comes in the box. Simples :-)
Those are really cool.
Cheers,
Pete.
Cheers dude ;-)
Well I cannot claim to understand the gaming element of this post but I do like the look of the figures that’s for sure. 😊
Cheers mate – that’s the most important bit 😉
I’ve been sorely tempted to get into blood bowl for a while. It’s a pretty far drive to people who are playing it though, so for now the urge can be ignored. Very nice bespoke markers, I think you are correct: that’s doing it right.
Cheers mate – it is one of those games that is good to know & can be awesome, but it is bloody irritating to play… I’d say it is worth a drive now and then ;-)
I see you gave that die a little extra TLC as discussed, and it looks like it was well worth it, brother! This lot look great.
I’m still not a fan of the tedious mediocrity of Humans, but they might just get another game in yet…
Cheers dude, just a little spruce up ;-)
Deffo worth trying them again mate – maybe against Vamps next time?
I’ve never played BB but it sounds like a fun game. I like a lot of the minis from the game but mainly for conversion ideas. Your counters are very cool. I like the trophy stuck in the tree. I also like the maple leaves.
Cheers mate – it can be a really fun game, but it is also frustrating as hell… easy to learn, but difficult to master :-)
So much detail that you put into game markers! Love them! The weathering on the die is awesome Alex!
Cheers dude – all messy brush work really, so any detail is entirely accidental ;-)
Very cool custom counters, Alex!
