Greetings Terrans, how goes it? I have a fun little update for you today – I’ve taken a break from my GA crew & started working on terrain items, objectives, and painting up monsters – all very much with a Ray Harryhausen vibe! First up, I’m absolutely over the moon to share this wee objective marker with you all:
You may be thinking ‘that’s all very nice mate, but what’s the big deal?’ Well… this marker was originally sculpted by me, and was sent to Ramshackle Games to be cast up & included on the Ramshackle webstore, so this is my first commercially available ‘hobby fing wot I made!’ You can pick one up here if you like – I got a handful cast as my payment so I don’t make any money off the sale, but my mate Curtis would be grateful for the business I’m sure. Here’s a few more angles to consider:
Next up, I felt the need to have an appropriate guardian for my Goldie Looking Fleece – there really is only one way to go here, and luckily, I had a Hydra waiting for a paint job thanks to the Mythic Battles: Pantheon set that I’m working through with my youngest son. He designed the colour scheme & put down the base layers, but I got stuck in with the more fiddly details:
I’m really pleased with how this came out – it’s almost entirely painted with Contrast paints & washes with a bit of drybrushing to bring out the detail… This seems to be a combination that works particularly well on models like this. I really like the bone colouring on the heads – my son chose these as a nod to the Skull Crawlers from the King Kong movies, and I think it works really nicely! Here are a few more angles & a little diorama for scale:
And so that’s it for another post – tune in next time for something truly massive…

Congratulations on getting your sculpt produced, looks excellent, and great work on the hydra as well Alex, great colour scheme
Cheers mate – it’s just a fun little doodah really, but I am pleased 😊
I can’t take credit for the Hydra colour scheme, but I’ll pass that on 👍
The sculpt you did is superb, both in looks and the paintjob! And well done on getting it into production!
Love the hydra, both for the model and the fact the colour scheme is suitably Alpha Legion :-)
Cheers mate – good spot on the AL connection!! Purely coincidental… or is it? (it is… )
Or is it??
These are both great, but the hydra in particular looks like you knocked it out of the park. Also, your son made a good call – the bone color on the heads is brilliant, and really makes them pop from the rest of the model!
Cheers mate, totally agree – he nailed that scheme!
Love that you have your own commercial sculpt mate, hats off and all that, awesome! Nice collaboration on the Hydra, looks excellent and already intrigued by the next post. 🤗
Cheers matey, it’s a pretty cool thing to happen – I’m chuffed to bits! 😊
I think you’ll like the next post… it’s suitably epic 🤫
Nice job, well done to both. Great sculpting you certainly got me thinking.
Cheers mate, that makes me happy 😊
Nicely done mate, surely getting a model you sculpted into production is a big tick for the “bucket list” of any hobbyist. I haven’t looked at Ramshackle in ages, clearly an error on my part that I’m rectifying right now. The model itself looks great (of course).
The hydra is also excellent – great work from both members of Team Leadballoony there . :-)
Cheers dude, I can’t lie, I’m over the bloody moon with it mate 😁
Nice Golden Fleece, you must be very proud to have it commercially available.
Thanks mate, you’re right about that 😊

Superb there getting your work out there.
Cheers mate – silly really but it’s good fun 😊
I love the “Fleece” and very nicely sculpted too sir!! That Hydra is a heck of a beastie too! great choice of colour on that, you might want to hold back on a couple of monsters and take part in Keiths “Monster May(hem)” challenge though, here’s a link….
Cheers mate, and don’t worry – I’ve got gazillions of monsters to get through 😊
Goldie Lookin Fleece, love it :D
You knows it 🤘
