Greetings Terrans, how goes it? I apologise in advance, but this is another very quick post… time is beyond scarce at the moment, so painting has slowed to a crawl, and blogging is waaaay down the priorities list. Still, I hope you like this one today – I’m rather pleased to introduce you to ‘Gorslav the Gravekeeper’:

This, for me, is one of the stand-out models from the set, and I knew I wanted to really push the horror theme with this guy. The pale necrotised flesh is a nod to that, as is all the gore & body-horror stuff. I mean, look at the face – absolutely terrifying:

Not much to say about the painting really – I’ve pretty much got my approach nailed now, using Contrasts as a quick & easy basecoat, shading & highlighting back and forth, adding gunk and corrosion, and generally fiddling around the edges until I’m happy. It’s hard to explain really – very unstructured, but really relaxing & good fun.
Well, that’s all for now – hopefully Gorslav will have some fleshy zombies to hang out with next post. Meanwhile, on with the shit-show. I’ll catch you truckers on the flip side 😊
Looking good mate! Probably my favourite model from this game and you’ve more than done him justice.
Cheers dude, he’s a lovely thing to paint if you ever get the chance ;-)
Fear not, he’s assembled and on the table, just need to actually put a brush to him.
Wow, fantastic looking model and an excellent paint job! Looks really creepy and disturbing, I love it!
Cheers mate, it’s a cracking mini & a joy to paint – glad you like it :-)
Great work Alex, the model has a very Silent Hill look about it, but you’ve done a stunning job on it.
Cheers Dave, yeah, it definitely has that feel about it doesn’t it? I think that’s why the model works so well, it really draws on a broader horror genre. Glad you like it mate :-)
Very nicely done, and as usual for you creepy as hell!
Cheers Roger.
Cheers mate, I’m calling that a win :-)
That is fantastic- it has grim dark fantasy look spot on.
Cheers,
Pete.
Cheers dude, grim is the right word for this abomination 😊
Eeeek, scary!
Pretty damn nice job!
Cheers dude 😊
Incredible work! I adore that model and you’ve given him some proper attention. My only regret is that I didn’t pick up Gorslav on ebay when he was cheap!
Thanks mate – he’s well worth a punt if you ever get the chance 😉
Very nicely done Alex and suitably horrible too! As you say you have got your approach nailed now and it certainly works. Hope things calm down for you soon and you find yourself with more hobby time. 🙂
Cheers mate, unlikely to be much improvement on the time front though, at least not for the foreseeable – I’m 2 weeks in to a 3 year Masters degree! 😂
What are you studying?
It’s a MBA – Masters of Business Administration (so nothing sexy 😂)
Wow Alex. That is one hell of an effectively creepy paintjob on a pretty creepy model! Really effective and unsettling. :)
Good luck on the Masters as well – I never quite completed mine and never really looked back with any regret, though I was able to cash out what I did complete for a Grad Dip.
Cheers mate, I’m really enjoying exploring the horror vibe – in miniature form of course, not in the Masters! I think it’ll be ok once I settle in to it – I did a degree in the same way a few years back & know that the time management piece gets easier 🤞
Lovely – a stand-out paintjob on a stand-out mini. It’s interesting to see GW pushing these more oddball sculpts.
Cheers mate, glad you like him – he was fab to paint 😊
Like the lads have said! he is horrible! well done mate!
😁 Just as I’d hoped- thanks dude!
