Greetings Terrans, time for another progress report on my lil’ OldHammer Eldar project. I’m really pleased with this latest addition to the army – a squad of Swooping Hawks:

I had been dreading and looking forward to painting these in equal measure – they are actually quite intimidating things to paint, what with all those gems and wing vanes… They did take longer to get through as a result, but they were well worth the effort. I’m really pleased with the red/yellow primaries, and I think the purple looks pretty nice on the secondaries as well. I was less sure about the purple helmets, (pfnaar), and originally planned to use yellow, but the purple has grown on me & I’m pretty pleased with the choice.
Anyhoo, that’s it for this post – got a few odds and ends to do next, including a couple of Guardians and some Dark Reapers!
Excellent Swooping Hawks Alex, I think the colors work well, as you often get purple in an evening or morning sky.
My thought exactly – thanks mate! Wait until you see the Exarch 😉
i love the purple, it is a surprise but really works.
Cheers mate, yep, same – tbh I still wasn’t sure until the purple got highlighted
Excellent work. I think that these pastel-ish colours work really well here, and they’re very well off-set by the bright wing ‘feathers’ (or whatever they’re meant to be).
Cheers mate, glad you like ‘em – they are quite pretty, but very 2nd ed I think 🤘
Hehe I completely understand the feeling of looking forward to but dreading painting minis. Superb work my friend
Thanks dude – it sure is a strange feeling 😊
