Greetings Terrans – another week, another Eldar post, and I have to say that I’m pretty pleased to have kept up some momentum on this project! In fact, I’m getting pretty close to the end of everything I have primed and ready to paint, with just a handfull of minis left in the to-do pile, (though I have been quietly sourcing, cleaning and basing a bunch of ‘phase 2′ minis in time for undercoatin’ weather, but that’s by the by).
Anyway, here’s my output for the week – first, a pair of Lasgun Guardians:

Nothing too exciting about these guys, just nice clean Eldar lines with a look that really hasn’t changed in the intervening years… I still find it hard to believe this range is 35 years old!!
Next up, a pair of Dark Reapers:

I was quite glad to get these two done – not a fan of painting black in general, especially where I want a clean look rather than a distressed vibe, but hopefully these pass muster… The bajillion gems were a pain in the arse to paint, but I’m happy that I put in the extra effort because they really do help to elevate what would otherwise be a pretty bland pair of minis. I kinda like how they are all moody and serious, but still want to be pretty :-)
Anyway, that’s all for now… Next up, my favorite Aspect – Fire Dragons!
The yellow and purple really pops. 35 years old wow. They still look and feel new. Great work
Cheers dude – can’t improve on the classics I guess!
Excellent classic guardians and Dark Reapers, they fit both your craftworld, and the original styling Alex
Thanks Dave, it’s all coming together quite nicely I think 😊
Awesome stuff mate those Reapers were always my fave favourite elder figures, yours look superb!! So many really cool old GW figures about the blogs at the moment, I love the old stuff, but the new stuff leaves me strangely cold.
cheers Roger
Cheers mate, I have to agree – they are rather good figures – imposing! Glad i could fo them justice 😊
Classic stuff. I’ve always enjoyed that solid look on the Dark Reapers, especially the contrast with the somewhat dynamic take for the rest of the Eldar.
Yep, agreed – they are very nicely grounded & all the better for it!
Great stuff Alex – each one of these posts makes me want to dig out some of my own old Eldar and actually get them painted as you’re doing!
Cheers dude, I can recommend this – it has been a very rewarding project!
