Greetings Terrans, I hope you are well. I’ve been continuing to tie up loose ends from my Primed pile, and ended up finishing the last two models I had earmarked for my Tzeentch warband. First up is the Magister of Tzeentch from the ‘Eyes of the Nine’ warband for Warhammer Underworlds:

He was a ton of fun to paint up, with plenty of scope to play with metallics on the skin, armour and feathers. He keeps the blue armour and orange cloth common to the rest of the warband.

Next up was a more challenging paint job – the Gaunt Summoner from the Silver Tower set:

This guy was quite intimidating to paint, but actually worked out pretty well I reckon. Again, I used loads of metallics, but I mixed in a bit of (hopefully subtle) OSL for the magic effect. I’m also pleased with the red I used for all the eyes, and I feel that adds to the overall look of the model.

Anyway, that rounds out the warband for now, and brings the total number of Tzeentch spellcasters up to six:

So that’s my Nurgle & Tzeentch warbands effectively done for the time being… Catch you next time for the start of a brand new warband!

Happy New Year!

Greetings Terrans, I hope all is well! Embarrassingly, this is my first post of the year – I just don’t seem to have had much time or motivation to do a lot of hobby so far in ’24. Nothing sinister, just got busy, and then got out of the habit of painting is all. I kind of forced myself to pick up a brush a few weeks back & went through the motions with the twin Skaven from the Silver Tower set, starting with this guy:

Closely followed by a converted version of the same mini:

The second one is kind of intended to hang with my Nurgle warband, while the first is more of a lone agent:

I wasn’t massively motivated to paint them to be honest, and I think it shows in the painting – there were definite CBFA moments! More than that though, I just found it really tough to get back into the swing of it… Still, done is done, and while they are pretty rough paint jobs, they did help me to work through my ‘painter’s block’, so I will have another post for you soon! Next will be a quick skip over to the grim blah of the blah-de-blah, and my take on one of the most famousest units.

Silver Tower – more bits and bobs

Greetings Terrans, I hope you’re all well! I haven’t had too much hobby time these last few weeks, but luckily I have a good selection of easy minis that are primed & ready to just grab and paint. Among that pile were these wee scamps from the Silver Tower set:

I did a bit of conversion work on the duplicates, just to get a bit of variation – not sure how successful they are tbh, but it’s pretty small potatoes in the grand scheme of things.

I also did these guys:

I couldn’t really see a way to sensibly convert these four, but the painting was fun. The walking books ware a good chance for a spot of freehand, and the fishy things use the same metallic approach as I used on the Horrors a few months ago. I quite like how they came out :-)

While I was in the mood for painting up little things, I also did this Frostgrave (I think) objective marker that I’ve had lying around for ever:

And here’s a final shot of the whole lot together:

And that’s all for now! Hopefully there will be a bit of painting time before Christmas :-)
