Temple of the Golden Frog – Warband complete

Greetings Terrans, just a quick post today – I finished up the final & most important member of the warband ready to tackle the Temple of the Golden Frog at BOYL this weekend!! He’s one of the Time Warped Wizards from Foundry – I picked the one that, to me, looks the most ‘Old World’:

I painted him up as a Wizard from Nuln, so I used a pretty straight forward scheme of red/black/yellow (which nicely ties him in with the wider warband):

Nothing too exciting to say about painting him really – I did struggle with those ruffles for quite a while, but I’m fairly happy with the finished article. More importantly, it feels good to have this mini-project completed, and it’s great to have got back into a bit of painting after such a long break from the hobby! I’m thoroughly looking forward to getting to BOYL later this week & getting this motley crew on the table :-)

More Golden Frog action

Greetings Terrans, got a couple more troops destined to share with you this week – a Pirate Queen and her half-Ogre Bos’n:

No idea where these minis are from, but they really are lovely… The big guy in particular made me thing of Tormund Gaintsbane from GoT, so the red hair was a no-brainer. I really think they make a fantastic pair – in fact, in my mind they are step-siblings, so the pistol-wielding badass got red hair as well!

I really enjoyed painting these two, and I’m certainly getting the feel of the brushes again. As an added bonus, these two actually complete the pirate 3rd of the warband:

I reckon they are a wonderfully eclectic bunch of ne’er-do-wells, but hopefully there are enough common tones and colours to tie them all together as a group.

Anyway, that’s it for this update – just the leader of the warband to finish!

More ‘Temple of the Golden Frog’ troops

Greetings Terrans, I’ve been chipping away at the 20-strong warband for The Temple of the Golden Frog BOYL game & have a couple more Pirate/merc types to share today. These two are from the ‘Time Warped Wizards range from Foundry, (though clearly not wizards themselves):

They make a fun pair, got some Old World Kislev vibes, or possibly Araby? Either way, I think they work as part of an eclectic mercenary band. Here they are with some of their compadres, hopefully with enough similarities to make them look a bit cohesive:

Painting was pretty straight forward – I pushed it a bit with the stripes, and I found the faces to be fiddly, but it feels like I’m getting back into the hang of things with the brushwork. I’ve got a couple more fighters to paint up, then the leader – feels good to be back in the groove!
