Hello chaps, I thought I’d put a quick post out – I had my first game of Dystopian Legions last night, and really enjoyed! For those that don’t know, Dystopian Legions is a steampunk skirmish game, set in an alternate timeline around the 1870’s. It’s 32mm truescale, and has some lovely models. We have the major empires of the time represented, and it looks like each is nuanced to favour a particular style of play. My pal Matt was good enough to lend me half of his Kingdom of Britannia force, and we had a good scrap with the aim of testing the rules and having a laugh. I should point out that Matt only has one or two games under his belt, so we were referring to the rules a lot :-)
Well… I didn’t manage to hit my target for March – I have a squad almost done, but they need a couple more sessions to finish them so I have to concede defeat. It sounds easy right? Paint 10 blokes in a month? March has been hectic – work, study, family visits… painting time has been squeezed out, but if I’m honest, I’m also bored with painting the same thing over and over. Time to mix it up a bit, but more on that later.
On the plus side, I have had a couple of games – including a blood-fest rematch with Matt’s awesome Vostroyans, and a close-run tussle with this handsome chap:
Hi folks, I can’t believe it has been nearly 3 weeks! It has been really busy with work and study, but I have been working my way through the leadpile as promised… I have just about finished a new 10 man squad, and I have some bits on the way to convert up a few interesting chaps as well. Hopefully more on that next week, but today I want to let you know about a beautiful Vostroyan army I fought last night, lovingly collected, converted and painted by Matt. Now… I am lucky enough to know some extremely talented painters, and I have played some truly stunning armies, but last night was the first time that I have actually wanted to own the army that I was up against. Check this Lt. out, and you’ll see what I mean:
Talk about getting 2015 off with a bang! So far I have managed to squeeze in a cracking gaming session and completed my first model of the new year – the first of four Valkyries towards making the Airborne Assault Formation (from the Militarum Tempestus codex) for my knightly scions:
Well, I had (probably) my final game of the year last night – one last match-up between the Dauntless 215th of Praetoria and the dreaded Stormbringers… I have had quite a few games against this particular hoard of Daemons, and the tally is very much in their favour as my blokes have struggled with flying monstrous creatures, buffed invulnerable saves, summoning spam, and all manner of daemonic trickery. One last throw of the dice to address the balance, one last chance for glory, one final opportunity for the men of Praetoria to avenge the dead and exercise the Emperor’s judgement on the minions of chaos… this is their tale.
