Greetings Terrans, I hope this finds you well! Sorry/not sorry to report another round of low quality mooks completed since my last post – still in the undead camp, but in more of a desiccated, bandage-wrapped, leathery sense… Yup, it’s the Conan Mummy parade!
Fair warning, if anything these models are even worse than the skellies I showed last week, (I know, I didn’t think it was possible either), but hey, they are cheep & they look better for being painted. Here we go – first up we have ten in this pose:

.
And then we have five each in of these poses:

.
Interpreting the models was a PITA – I couldn’t decide if certain bits were bandage or not, so I fudged bits here & there. The paint job was about as good as the minis deserved – the only point of interest really was painting the flesh & experimenting with a blackened ‘bog man’ type skin tone. I’m not sure how successful it was, but it works ok against the paleness of the bandages I think. Here they all are together:

.
That’s it for another week chaps & chapesses! I’ll post some characters & bits next time – I need a break from mass paint jobs, and I’m sure you do too 😊
You’ve done a cracking job on these Alex, with how poor the models are, and everything looks in place, so you have managed to pick the right parts to paint in my opinion. Great skin colour choice as well, as mummified skin seems to go any where from black to medium brown, I think a lot depends on the original skin tone and the mummifying process (peat bogs being the darkest)
Thanks mate – this hobby does take us to some funny areas of research doesn’t it! 😂
Indeed it does, with my research history, I probably look like a serial killer or terrorist ! LOL
😂
I can see what you mean about the poor sculpts, but your paint job has raised them up. The bog skin you aimed for worked really well but the bandages must have been a total pain in the arse!
Cheers mate – drybrush to the rescue 😉
I want my mummy etc etc! I like what you’ve done with these mate, perhaps not the greatest miniatures around but you’ve made them work all the same.
Cheers mate, more kebab 🤣
I think it is fair to say they aren’t the best of minis but it is equally fair to say that you’ve done a pretty decent job on them given the lack of love. 🙂
Cheers mate, they are goofy, but better painted than not 😁
What? You didn’t do your absolute best work on a bunch of boardgame sculpts? How very dare you?
Seriously though l, they look pretty damn solid to me and they’ll work perfectly for gaming purposes. 👍
Cheers dude – all very much inspired by your heroic efforts on second-rate models!!
Lovely work in my opinion, you do get some dodgy figures in some board games, but these still look great!
Cheers Roger.
Aw, thanks mate, they’ll do 😊
I think that these look really good so if the minis are terrible then that is quite the testament to your painting skill. I really struggle to paint when I don’t have the motivation so kudos for grinding this batch out. Good idea to go with blackened flesh as it provides a great contrast to the paleness of the bandages.
Thanks mate – I find this sort of painting to be a different kind of fun tbh… I can’t make them any worse, so I just relax & go with the flow! 😂
