So, my first step in putting together a Praetorian army was to get hold of the original limited edition set from ebay – platoon command squad, 2 infantry squads and a mixture of heavy weapons.
It cost loads, but was well worth it in my opinion. Next step was paints. I knew that I wanted to go with the ‘traditional’ colours – red tunic, blue dress trousers, white pith helmet and yellow braid – all classic like. I thought about doing the tunic trim in green but to be honest, I didn’t trust my painting skills sufficiently. The whole lot took literally months to paint, mainly because it took me quite a while to get my eye in and I really wanted to do my absolute best. I also discovered Curious Constructs at about this time, and snaffled some of Col. Gravis’ excellent guns and carriages – they really hit the spot in terms of the look that I was starting to develop. In the meantime I also picked up some easy-to-paint Necrons just so I could get a bit of game time at a nearby games club – the Praetorians were very much a secret project at this point. Here are some pics of that first batch, (if I’ve figured out how to do this blogging business correctly!).

Yep! I’m doing a deep dive. I’ve been feeling a bit guilty on neglecting the blogs of a couple of key (to me) people as I’ve struggled to keep up in the last couple of years, and so I looked at a couple of your other posts, and then decided well, what the hell. I may as well check your blog out from the start and see what I missed out on.
Onto this post – I love the Autocannon proxies, and I was literally thinking about getting started on my unpainted Praetorians (and Mordians) about 2 nights ago…
Wow, this is a blast from the past! Interesting to see how far my painting has come 😂
