Hello and greetings! Well, it has been a while – life has definitely been getting in the way of hobby lately! I’m afraid it will be more of the same for quite a while – medical stuff, study, work, a short break with the kids… all are competing for my time at the moment, so posts and hobby will be infrequent for the foreseeable future I’m afraid… On my last post, I mentioned that I had a game lined up against a gorgeous Space-Pups army at the club, so here is a very brief overview and a couple of pics, plus, I have a teaser for a new secret project…

So, the match against the Space Wolves was great game, 1500pts of Maelstrom that played to an honourable draw. It didn’t really go to plan for either party – we played with the diagonal setup, and I deployed well back in anticipation of a load of outflanking mayhem, but all of the allegedly acute sensing Pups managed to come on from their own table edge! This meant that we were very far away from each other throughout – in fact other than my deepstriking Scions and a lone terminator, neither of us really got out of our own halfs! My Scions did their job in the enemy deployment zone, landing more or less on target, and blowing up a Predator and a Landraider before tying up the bulk of the enemy army for 2 turns of combat. At the same time, I pummelled anything I could reach with a Wyvern… I think I accounted for almost 2 full squads of Grey Hunters just with this unit… very nice indeed. The only action that my guardsmen saw was scoring objectives and melting a lone Terminator Wolf Guard Sergeant that emerged through a typically devastating Wyvern barrage. Two of my squads didn’t even bother to get out of their rides!

Overall, I am pretty sure that I hit the Wolves harder than they hit me, and I had a lot of very nasty mid-range shooting that was held back to account for out-flanking forces that didn’t materialise… This was one of those rare games where I would have been quite optimistic about closing it out with a few extra turns, but sadly we ran out of time. My one mahoosive boo-boo was infiltrating my lady assassin within striking distance of a grey wolf pack… I got all confused up by the diagonal stuff and thought that the wolves were in the ‘reserve’ pile… My girl did survive the shooting phase, but I knew she was screwed when she got charged and I managed three 1’s in cc… yeah… trained killer that one! Suffice to say, she didn’t survive the Marine’s initiative step.

Anyhow, here’s some picks of the action with my heroic Scions playing speed-bump after blowing some expensive tanky shiz up… check out those Space Pups!! (told you they were gorgeous!)

(yeah… this challenge didn’t end well for the caped crusader…)

And finally, here’s a little sneaky look at a little idea I am kicking round in my head… see if you can figure out what is going on here!
