Happy Monday chaps, another quick post from me this morning – I got a few more civilians completed and ready to share with you. Firstly, we have my OSL experiment – he got tweaked slightly and had his base finished off, but otherwise the same details as last week.
Secondly, we have another Colony87 icon bearer – I went ahead and did a bit of converting on this model, seeing as he was a duplicate. His staff head is from the Scions kit, and the head was replaced with the top dome of an AdMech Ruststalker. I like how it turned out – there’s quite a cool, generic sci-fi vibe going on here… a little bit R2D2, a little bit Dalek… strangely, also reminds me of Princes Leia when she’s disguised as the bounty hunter in Jaba’s palace… maybe that’s just me, but anyway, she’s is now a she in my mind :-)
Finally, we have the last Colony87 miniature from the set. I reverted to my House Malocchio colour scheme for this guy, and, as with all the range so far, he was a joy to paint. I started to think of him as an apothecary of some sort some way through the painting, so he’s now serving as the family doctor. Here’s some pics:
The three new additions together
The Colony87 set together (Slann painted for my RogueQuest party)
Imperial Scribey types chillin’ in the hood, reading and ting
Hraxi Jonas and Short-Round meet with a mysterious outlander…
So, that’s it for now chaps, I have a few more civvies on the paint station, and then I’ll be moving on to something else… not sure what yet!
I like the Icon bearer. Great conversion. So maybe the love child of a Dalek and R2? I did some extreme close ups on the pix to marvel at your detail work. Well done. What’s next, what’s neeeeext??
Thanks mate – extreme close-up is good fun… Sometimes, I take a pic when it’s WIP, and zoom right in to see how it’s going! Next up is a pair of scribes and another porter. After that? Who knows! :-)
Excellent, I’ll be here to extreme chloe up them all.
Wonderful new models and this really strengthens my will to finsih my C87 set before the new one arrives. The conversion is really cool and perfectly fitting I agree.
Thanks mate, glad you like, and yes… you should totally do your C87 set!!!
Very nice. I like the conversion of the astropath.
Thanks dude, glad you agree, I think she’s come out really well! Funny thing is, this was the first thing I thought of when the Ruststalkers were released… it’s good to see it realised and looking good!
Great work, Alex. I love the look of the guy with the Dalek-hat!
:-) Thanks mate – I admit, I was a little bit tempted to add an eye-stalk!
Agreeing with everyone else really – the R2-girl is spot on. Before I read the post properly I didn’t realise it was a conversion (I was scanning through the text looking for a link to go and buy one!)
The good doctor is rather nice as well (hopefully not a Yueh to the Conte’s Harkonnen !).
Thanks mate, that’s the sign of a good conversion! I loved painting the Doctor, he’s is a cracking little model… I think he’s a goody… or at least neutral… ;-)
I had the same thought. Didn’t realise it was a conversion at first!
Great conversion on that icon bearer, shows how just a “tiny” change like a head swap can do so much.
Thanks dude – I do love a good head swap :-)
Classy conversion on that icon bearer. And the inq dude’s OSL effect is really good! Sometimes people’s object source lighting attempts are bit awry, too much and in wrong places but you have really nailed it.
Thanks man, there was a lot of planning, time and thought put in to it, but comments like that make it worth while. I’m glad you think it looks convincing! :-)
Hmm, tasty minis and nice conversion work. Cool!
Thanks Suber, it’s been a fun time! :-)
Curious and cool bunch! Very well done on shedding some light to this side of the imperium..
Thanks Toni, appreciate that mate :-)
