Greetings Terrans, another quick update on my Legion army today – first up, some rather aggressive-looking Aggressors. Before I post my pics, I want to highlight that the base models are goofy as hell imo, and honestly, I’m not a fan. Their ridiculously oversized paws making them look like they permanently skipped Shoulders day at the gym – not a good look! Add in the insanity of a pair of power gloves with flamethrowers strapped on, and we have a pretty meh model as far as I’m concerned:

When I tackled mine, I wanted to visually balance the model a bit better, and still kicking around my idea of these guys having to deal with a lot of Daemonic incursions, I added Bloodletter skulls to the pauldrons… this nicely bulks out the shoulders & makes them more in proportion with their ridiculous bear paws. The horns on the skulls also give a nice bit of height & break up the otherwise smooth outline… They’re still not my favourite minis of all time, but I do like them better now, so overall, I’m calling this a win:

Next up we have a cheeky chappie Chaplain. Similar to the Captain I shared last week, this was one of two identical minis, so I converted this one a bit with a different melee weapon, a head swap, a change of ornamentation and a bit of re-posing – nothing hectic, but enough to set him apart from his twin. The robe was scratched up & painted with multiple washes – I wanted the effect of really old and stained leather:

So that’s it for another week droogs, I hope you’re still enjoying this army take shape – more chipping away at this project in the weeks to come :-)
At the risk of being seen to be sucking up I prefer your guys compared to the box image version. The colour scheme is superior in that it is very well executed and different, everyone seems to do blue. Not against the blue but when everyone else does it you need something different and yours is certainly that. As for the Chaplain figure you have nailed that leather. 🙂
Cheers mate – the blue ones are the GW poster boy ‘Ultra-Marine’ chapter, (or Ultra-Smurfs as I prefer to call them) ;-)
These guys are incredible- wow! The Aggressors are downright fearsome, while you’ve totally nailed the morbid eeriness of that Chaplain
Cheers dude – I’ll take morbid eeriness all day long! 😁👍
Not a fan of the agressors concept to begin with either but that chaplain is great and just evocative enough of centurius !
Cheers mec, yeah, I don’t think I would’ve picked them up if they didn’t come with the Conquest magazine, but when life gives you lemons… 😊
I will be doing a version of Centurious – I quite fancy the Justicar as the base 😉
Yup, I have very little love for the Aggressors. Part of it, I think, is that they’re not – and never will be – Terminators, and I grew up loving Terminators and wanted them in Primaris scale since long before Primaris were so much as a twinkle in GW’s collective eye – and instead we get these… Love what you’ve done with them though, the LotD colour scheme works really well on them. The Chaplain is great too, one of my favourite Space Marine models and you’ve really done him justice.
Aye, they definitely don’t stack up well against Termies.
You’ve given me an idea though – using these as a base for a modern take on a classic Terminator… could be fun!
Go for it! I’ve thought along the same lines myself but so far I’ve not managed to put together anything that looked right to me – it’d be good to get some fresh eyes on the subject. :-)
I’ll add it to my list 😁👍
Great work- really like that Chaplain.
Cheers,
Pete.
Thanks dude 😊
Really good call with the skulls on the shoulders, they really balance the models! Overall, these are really cool.
Thanks Mikko, they certainly don’t make them any worse 😂
As it seems to be the general note, I’m no fan of the Agrressor sculpts. However, your conversion helps to make them look more… balanced. Not sure if that would be the term or if it makes any sense. On the other hand, when it comes to the Chaplain, I strongly believe it’s an impressive mini and your paintjob makes more than justice. I love it.
Cheers dude, they are definitely a case of making the best of the situation 🤣
I’m pleased with the Chappers though, he came out well I reckon 😉
I dunno, I think these look cool and as TIM said, the colors are great.
Cheers mate, it’s relative I suppose – the bulk of the Primaris range is pretty cool, but there are a few stinkers in there… the Aggressor models aren’t completely horrible, but they ain’t great 😕
I love that Chaplain! I reckon he would work well as a baddy in almost any sci-fi RPG too.
Cheers mate, he’s got a bad ass vibe for sure 😊
