Greetings Terrans, how goes it? Quick post today to share some incidental minis finished during my Fembruary efforts. You may remember this pair of female Zombies that I painted as part of the challenge:
Well, I couldn’t not paint the remainder of the set while I was at it, so here they are!
This is the second set of Karr-Keel zombies, (I painted the first set waaaay back in 2017), and like the first set, they were a joy to paint. The sculpting was done by none other than Kev Adams & the minis have all the humour & quirkiness you’d expect from the Goblin Master himself. I painted them in my usual non-fussy Zombie stylee – the minis are entirely done with washes, with the addition of some diluted Contrast paints here and there. I used base paints for the metals, and then technical paints were used for blood, gore, corrosion & Verdigris, and that’s about it! All in all, a very loose, quick and easy paint job, and all the more enjoyable for that.
Ok, so next up is a weird one – IRO has been asking people to post their favourite t-shirts in March… I think it’s creepy, but it’s IRO so whaddaya gonna do. Here’s my current ‘feeling crabby’ fave:
Aaaand that’s it for this post – the next one will be a similar affair with another February project expanded on, and maybe another t-shirt if the one I have in mind cycles through my pile of clothes.

These are excellent, and I love the yellow on the musicians’ clothing. Is that zombie dog carrying a small child in its jaws??
Alex said:
Cheers mate, and that’s a zombie rabbit in the zombie dog’s gob… a child would be a bit grim for this collection! 😂
I’m delighted with the yellow too so I’m glad you picked up on that – Contrast yellows are magic in a pot 😉

I’ve just done a figure in yellow (using Vallejo glaze) for the Neglected but Not Forgotten challenge and it’s… not good. I think it’ll be heading for a bath in Simple Green soon.

Great work on the zombies, they look suitably rotten, and the pops of colour draw in the eye.
Nice looking T with some very cool crustaceans
Alex said:
Cheers mate, glad you like ‘em – Zs are one of my fave things to paint tbh, very forgiving & full of character. I can’t take credit for the T – my wife buys all my shirts 🙄

Nicely done Alex, you can’t beat dead muscians for a bit of Zombie Rock. Can’t help but feel the drama and danger went out of the sword swallowers act when he died though! 😉
Alex said:
Cheers mate, it’s the bloody Piper that makes me chuckle – one of the few instruments that would only sound better in un-death 😂

Nice miniatures and nicely painted. I like the band and I think the first two miniatures could do double duty as hags or evil spellcaster types too — especially the one with the broom.
Nice t-shirt too. If I owned that, it would be one of the ones that I never put in the dryer so as to keep it nice longer.
Alex said:
Cheers Ann, they are a cracking set, but yeah, the band is very cool in-group. The first Karr-Keel set did the same thing with a smaller in-group inside the main group – it’s a nice approach & I’m glad they repeated the trick. Glad you like the T too! I’ll pass your feedback on to my fashion consultant 😁

Excellent zombies- they look just right with regards to their flesh tones.
Cheers,
Pete.
Alex said:
Cheers mate, the flesh is plain old camoshade wash from GW 😉

Lovely Zombies Alex, as you said great characterful sculpts.
Nice T-shirt too, reminds me of a joke…
There are to lads arguing outside of school one day so the young lady teacher comes out and asks what the matter is?
The first lad turns to the teacher and say “Miss what’s the difference between crabs and lobsters?”
“Well, crabs walk sideways”, reply’s the young miss.
“See!” shouts the boy to his friend, “I said she’d given you lobsters!”.
Cheers Roger.

Cheers mate, and oh man, that is a groaner! Mind you, first time I put the t-shirt on I warned the kids that it was making me feel crabby… they groaned too 😂

They are so good, both in sculpting and painting!
Alex said:
I can’t take credit for the minis (man, I wish I could sculpt half as well!) but glad you like the paintjob mate – pretty messy really, but fun 😊

These are genius mate! Think the zombie bagpiper wins it for me, but the zombie sword swallower is very clever too. Great T-shirt too – some fine looking crustaceans. I’d forgotten about IRO’s wet T-shirt contest, I’ll have to have a dig in the old wardrobe and see what I can come up with.
Alex said:
I did think of you when painting the piper – I had a feeling you’d like him 😁
The sword swallower is a cracker too – you can see the bade in his stomach cavity!
I don’t think the t-shirts have to be wet… then again, he didn’t specify that yhey had to be dry either! 😂

Great work on both collections of creepy yet quirky zombies there. And nice (?) Crab-themed t-shirt…
Alex said:
😂 Cheers mate – the closer you look, the gnarlier the t-shirt gets!

They look really good, love that set! Also, that’s a cool shirt and you’re fit AF :D

😊 Cheers mate, that’s too funny – they are fab zombies, and not bad for an old fart I suppose! 🤣
