Greetings Terrans, how goes it? It has been insanely busy here in Leadballoonyville, but I did manage to get some painting done for Fembruary – check these ladies out:
I’ve painted these to join a small army I’m putting together for Sludge – the lady in the middle is a Sorceress and the others are her bodyguard. They are from Black Crab and were lovely things to paint – I can see these minis fitting in to so many games. I’m particularly pleased with getting the eye-glow through the veil effect, took a bit of faffing but worth it I reckon.
I also painted this female mini from the same range:
I have no idea what to use her for… maybe a shrieking artillery piece? Whatever, she’s pretty damn cool so I painted her some creepy playmates:

I did a snowy training hike over the weekend so have a nice hiking pic for your troubles:
I’m in not-terrible shape for my age, but hiking is a different kind of fitness altogether and I was just about hanging in there towards the end! Didn’t help the ego that all the other hikers were 65 or over! 😂

Great to see you find time for some Fembruary ladies – very nicely done indeed. There’s something about that headdress which is most unsettling!
Best of luck with the mountain bashing, having worked for a mental health Trust for many years I can agree it’s a worthy cause. Do it for us model painters!

All the models look great Alex, the eye glow is excellent, an really sells the idea of a magical calling.
Well done on the hike, and it doesn’t matter if they’re 65 or 105 if they do it regularly they will make you feel unfit ! LOL

Very nice paint job on some great sculpts. I wasn’t a huge fan of the weirdo noble group but this may have changed my mind.

Lovely work on the minis Alex and I love that eye glow that you’ve achieved, very effective. Good luck with 3 peaks. One of the guys who came with the trip I organised was a marathon runner. Although it wasn’t a race as such he came up each mountain last. It wasn’t fitness as such but different muscle groups. Hiking and hill walking as you are discovering is a different kind of fitness. That said my money is on you mate. 🙂
Cheers mate, I was worried about how those eyes would come out but it seems to have worked according to plan. Deffo a different set of muscle fibres being used, but I’m getting in some good prep so giving myself the best chance 😊👍

Looking stylish mate (I’m talking about the miniatures of course!). Hmmm… Funnily enough I was just looking at the Black Crab lady in the middle of the top picture, and at the same time I’ve been looking for a suitable model to use as a Sorceress – but my brain hadn’t managed to join the dots until now. Consider that idea borrowed as well! As for the hiking, well done – mountains are a whole different kind of challenge and snow makes them even more “entertaining” so keep it up mate. I’ve probably told you this before but when I was at uni I was in a hiking club for a bit, we were all fit, outdoorsy young guys. On one steep section we met about a dozen women from a climbing and mountaineer club who were out to celebrate their youngest members’ 70th birthday. They went past us like we were standing still…
😂Cheers mate – yeah, deffo no style points on the hills! It really is terrifying just how much adaptation is needed to do ‘hiking’ well.
Glad you like the sorceress though mate, she’s a lovely model & probably reads more as a noble of sorts, but fits the bill I think 😊👍
Lots of lovely mini’s on show there mate, and all beautifully painted too. Looks chilly on that mountain I’d stick to the indoor hobbies if I was you. 😉

Cheers mate – it was fresh, but nowhere near as bad as my hike out on Friday… I didn’t want to risk my camera, but I reckon the wind hit 70 on the high ground and the sleet was vicious 🥶
Still, good prep – it’s hard to clock up the miles in the house 😊👍

The Eyes have it mate nicely done, I’m in the over 65’s mate and do hikes up our little mountain but I think I would fail if I was with yours !! Ha Ha!! Best of luck matey .

You certainly pulled off getting the creepy look on this trio – and good on you for the hike as well. My knees and ankles certainly wouldn’t be up to something like that.. which reminds me… I really need to make myself go to the gym today and get on the old leg press.. :p
