Greetings Terrans, how goes it? Still playing catch-up with y’all in terms of painted minis, so it’s another photo dump I’m afraid. First up is a small warband that was cooked up to play over at Heresyofus – one Marine, one psyker, two cultists, one ‘normal’ sized Daemon and a small imp-level Daemon:
I re-used one of my found-Daemons and one of my Legion of the Damned Marines, but the cultists (Blackstone Fortress – Cultists of the Abyss) & psyker (Blackstone Fortress – core set) are new, as is the wee Daemon fella (WH Underworlds – Eyes of the Nine warband):
The Daemon was fun, playing about with metallic colours rather than the more typical primarys that most people go with (they are supposed to be made of ‘magic’, so it made sense to me). Having painted up two of the cultists from the Cultists of the Abyss expansion, I chipped away at the remaining six in the intervening period:
And seeing as I was on a Cultist roll, I figured I should do the OG Cultists from the Blackstone Fortress core game (the ones on the right are slightly converted to de-duplicate a little):
Oh, and this numpty got painted up as well:
Group photo of the latest batch:
And with that, I think you are all up to date on everything I’ve been painting in the background! I’ll keep chipping away at Blackstone Fortress over the next however long, but next up will be the launch of a brand new Nurgle waband – catch you next time!

Fantastic work on all Alex, the warband fits together brilliantly, and ties in with each model, while still remaining individual. Great work on the cultists, and making each different, as cultists should be.
Cheers mate – can’t have things too uniform in a rabble 😊
I think there are a few disturbed individuals amongst this bunch! They look great mind you (and more than a bit grubby)! :-)
Cheers mate, I like the grubbiness – quick, messy and easy painting was very much the order of the day 😊
Wow, that’s a lot of (good) work! I particularly like the Daemons, but the whole cultist bunch looks awesome!
Cheers mate, I’m really pleased with that horror – gonna do some more of those I reckon 😉

Those are a fantastic, grim dark band of renegades. Perfect for a skirmish action.
I really like them.
Cheers dude, yup, a proper rag-tag band of skirmishers for sure! I deliberately toned down the obvious Chaos elements to make them a bit more ambiguous, so they could be pirates or whatever
Black Fortress is one I still kinda wished I hadn’t missed out on. Granted, it would probably still be a big box of grey plastic, but it would be nice to have a SciFi dungeon crawler. You did a great job on the band, and I do like the metallic colors you used as well. I don’t know what it is about Chaos Cultists, but I always love seeing those guys. The colors you used on them and mods you did look great!
Thanks mate – I really wish I had bought in on all the expansions… those things go for crazy money now!!
That aside, I am really hoping to get a game in with this set once I’m done
Like John said, nice a grubby!! well done.
Cheers mate 😁👍
Good looking group! Great job on the de-duplicating. Seemingly always a requirement when working with GW cultist units…
Cheers mate, glad you appreciate the effort – it’s incredible how unchaotic a group of chaos cultists can look 😂
As a Renegades & Heretics player, I feel that comment in my bones.
My sympathies 😊
YES! Very grim looking bunch mate and the metallics worked well on the Daemon.
Cheers mate, that lil fella was an interesting, and happily successful, experiment 😊
Fantastic work on all Alex,ចាក់បាល់
Thank you 😊
I love it. Those cultists and traitors are wonderful sculpts and your painting brings them to life perfectly. I hope they performed admirably in your games.
Cheers mate, they are cracking minis for sure – good fun to paint too!
Crikey mate you have been busy. Very nice work all round. 🙂
Cheers mate, just chipping away at it all really 😊
Simply stunning work mate! I’d say they were lovely, but I don’t think that was the look you were going for! 😁
Cheers mate, I’m happy with ‘lovely’ 😁
Great work again across the board. I like the thought and effect of the metallics on the Horror – makes sense as well and the irridescence is something else I may have to steal later on. A real heroic effort getting through all those Cultists, as well!
Ah, yeah, I keep meaning to more Daemons of T – he was good fun to paint! The cultists were a bit of a slog, but Contrasts did all the heavy lifting really 😉
Cheers dude 👍
Mate, these are just fantastic. Wonderful painting, superb use of colour and they have a really creepy vibe to them. Great stuff!
Thanks mate, fair to say that Contrast paints did all the heavy lifting here :-)
Ooh – I like that metallic horror, that’s a great idea. The cultists and traitor guard look great too – I really must get my arse in gear and finish mine. The subtle hazard marking on the champion’s chainsword is especially nice.
Cheers dude, they are fun to chip away at in and around other things 😊
