Bad Wolf…

Hello chaps, I can’t believe it has been almost a month since I last posted! Life has been pretty hectic with work, travel & studies so I’ve been on a real go-slow on the hobby these last weeks… What little time I have had has been spent on what is (I feel) by best project to date. L’s and G’s, I give to you…

And now for something completely different…

Hello chaps, a very quick post from me today – I just wanted to share some WIP shots to give an idea of what I’m up to at the moment. First up is this handsome chap:

He’s based on Krom Dragongaze from Stormclaw, mixed up with bits from the Skullreaper/Wrathmonger kit… He’s shaping up nicely IMO – still vaguely Imperial looking, but barbarous and chaotic at the same time. The idea is to reimagine the Stormclaw dataslate as a wolf pack that is on the turn as that daemonic axe slowly warps his mind. I’ll be mulling over a decent backstory over the coming weeks, and this project will be a slow burner model-wise, but I think we’re off to a good start. You can expect a Blanchesque approach to the painting – comments welcome :-)

I also got a few of my Rogue Trader Pirates based up:

I’m just going to slowly paint my way through these guys on a per model basis – the aim here is to have fun and paint stuff that isn’t a uniform! Hopefully the end result will be a group of models that can be used in a number of ways – conscripts, gangers, cultists… even pirates!

Peace out Brothers – until next time.

Another squad (finally) completed…

*sigh*… back from a week long break and finally got this lot off my plate:

This last squad feels more like handing in an assignment than a joyous painting completion, but I do like my Sgt chap with the cricket bat – (there’s nothing like the crack of xenos skull on willow to announce the arrival of summer!) But… fundamentally, I haven’t enjoyed getting these guys done – there are only so many times I can do the same paint job on the same set of sculpts before I end up getting really really bored. I mean FFS, here is my completed Praetorian pile – well over a hundred models, all with the same basic paint scheme:

Not a small amount by any means! It is definitely time to do something different, so the glorious expansion of the Praetorian 215th is going to be put on hold for a while – HQ has been on the wireless and we’re having a headcount freeze due to defence budget cuts, uncertain security forecasts, and a general concern about the availability of sufficient rations of tea. I’m going to do some conversions, focus on painting one-off characters, and generally try to enjoy my hobby a bit more. Watch this space Brothers…
