Hello chaps! Well, it’s been a funny week since my last post, so much going on that I don’t feel that I have really got much hobby done! I have been slowly working my way through the latest batch of Scions in the background, and hope to have some completed pics for you later in the week, but the bulk of my hobby has been working on the Ork Gork/Morkanaught with my son.

I must admit, I am a fan of the G/M-orkanaught in terms of how it looks, and what it does in the game. Having worked on the kit, that opinion remains – it is a joy to build. However… I do have an issue with having to permanently choose between either the Gorka or the Morka…

With this in mind I decided to try and allow the option to swap between Gork and Mork. It was fairly straight forward – the mega-blaster cable was replaced with a flatter item, and a lug needed to be removed from inside the gun body. You can then create an assembly with the mega-blaster & mega-shooter bits and the whole thing can be plugged either way round into the housing (if you ingnore the groove that the front end of either gun is supposed to slot into). Finally I added some magnets to help hold the gun in place, regardless of which way round you use it. I didn’t bother with any ammo feed at this point, but I may come back to it later in the build. Here are some pics on how it works:

I’m sure that the magnetising could be done in a neater way, and I’ll look to make it a little less obvious in the final build, but to be fair, all the magnets are on the underneath of the gun, so not hugely noticable anyway. Next steps will be to magnetise the chest guns and the KFF, and it should be job done – one dual purpose Gorka/Morkanaught! It is completely beyond me why GW don’t design the kit to do this in the first place, other than to assume the obvious ‘sell more’ motivation…

On another note, both of the Kickstarters that I was backing have completed, both made their targets and then some. Congratulations to both Rob (CC) and James (Infamy). Awesome work chaps, can’t wait to see what you guys are planning next!
