Heavy hitters!

Tags

Greetings Terrans, just a quick post from me today. I’ve got some more Eru-Kin painted up and off the to-do list – this time, it is a pair of the rather massive ‘Krug Troglodytes’, the heavy hitters of the Eru-Kin range:

Nothing fancy on the paint jobs – I had to get a hurry on, so they are mostly painted with ink washes, a light drybrush, and then some detail here and there, (aaaand I just realised that I forgot to do their eyes…)

I kept the skin dry-looking to suggest a more reptilian creature compared to the amphibious ‘wet-look’ I use for the Eru-Kin. I’ll use these as heavy shock troops in Rogue Trader, or as general monster material in other games. Here’s a comparison shot with some regular humans – you can see just how big these buggers are:

Their size actually meant that they jumped queue because they were taking up too much room in my ‘pending’ tray, but really I should’ve been working on the humans you can see above… I need them (and one other mini) finished for Sunday for something really really cool, but I’ll wait until next week to tell you about them in more detail… do feel free to speculate though ;-)

Super-Kal-and-Scabs-are-done, but-hexed-with-heat-atrocious!

Greetings Terrans! Wow, it has been a long and unproductive few weeks, but finally I have something worth sharing – the legendary Kal Jericho and his trusty sidekick Scabs. I’ve tried to follow the artwork from this book for Kal – I wouldn’t normally copy so blatantly, but it just seems appropriate for a named character:

And this is how they turned out:

Not too shabby, eh? These guys are brilliant minis, and I should have had great fun painting them… so I’m questioning why the hell I didn’t have fun, and why it took me so long to finish them! Truth is, dear reader, that I’m really struggling to be arsed to paint (or do) anything at the moment… We’re having a ridiculous heatwave here in the home counties of England, so I’m permanently hot, stuffy & tired… I really don’t do well in the heat I’m afraid – it tends to send me the wrong side of grumpy. Yes, I’m sorry to say that I am one of those moany old ‘it’s too hot’ types! Oh, and I still have my summer hayfever to look forward to as well, (and all the face-leaking joy that goes along with it). Oh rapture.

Anyway, as a result of my general ‘can’t be arsed to move’ mood, I have soooo many things piling up on the ‘get this bloody painted’ list, and I don’t really know where to start! I’d really like to get the last of my Eru-Kin finished up, and I have some stuff to sort out for Mark over at Heresyofus, but it’s just too damn hot to spray anything. I also have a few odds and ends to get ready for BOYL in (gasp) less than 4 weeks! I’d better get cracking with some clean-up, conversioning & basing, and just keep my fingers crossed for a cooler spell… (grumble, grumble, bugger…)

Spawn of frustration

Greetings Terrans, it has been a while, (again), but here we are with some more Eru-Kin for your viewing pleasure. This time we have a bunch of elite-looking space frogs with some kind of laser lance things that are very reminiscent of the weapons they used in Stargate – all very cool, (but a bugger to photograph!) However, (and hence the post title), these guys took me an absolute age to get through, and actually ended up being a bit frustrating towards the end… On reflection, this is probably because four pairs of the same mini basically became a batch-painting exercise, which does tend to grind my gears after a while. That said, they are really very lovely minis, so it’s not all doom and gloom :-)

Here’s the first pair, front & back view:

And the remaining pairs, defined by the colour of their loin cloths:

I’ll be running this spawning as heavy weapons troops in my Eru-Kin army – I’ve painted them in pairs so I can assign them to existing units, or I might just field them as stand-alone fire teams… Hell, I might even mass them up into a big shooty deathstar! Typical amphibian flexibility :-)

EDIT – I’m also calling this as my entry for Junit :-)

Speaking of the army, it’s starting to get there!

I still have some additions to make before BOYL, but I’m a bit sick of painting Eru-Kin for the time being… I’ll probably focus on having some fun for a couple of weeks by painting up a few individual minis for other projects, (Inq28 stuff & Necromunda most likely), so hopefully this means that it won’t be quite so long between posts! Until next time dudes – be excellent to each other :-)
